Welcome to Club Flux, an interactive evening of DJ’ing and dancing, being held in the Atelier where Flux Factory is holding their artist residency.
19:00 – Workshop by DJ PlayPlay on the Art of DJ’ing
20:00 – Interactive dance party / try out DJ’ing for yourself!
There may also be some surprise performances and installations throughout the evening. Feel free to stop in for a dance while enjoying the museum’s night hours, and see what we’ve been working on at ARoS Public.
*Important note: Alcohol brought into the space must have been purchased at the museum (there are drink specials in the café).
PlayPlay is a music artist interested in local music scenes, dance floor dynamics, queer theory, and media studies. They have been teaching DJ’ing and music production for several years, most recently through the UNC-Chapel Hill Music Department and Building Beats (NYC). With a particular investment in mentoring women and gender non-conforming DJs / producers, PlayPlay has held workshops at festivals such as Moogfest, for organizations such as Girls Rock NC, and at various colleges & universities. PlayPlay was selected this year to be an artist-in-residence at Flux Factory, a Queens-based gallery, as well as at ARoS Museum in Denmark, where they are currently working on a soundscape installation that focuses on the history of club music.
